As if we didn’t have enough to look forward to from Capcom — with Resident Evil 6, Devil May Cry, and Lost Planet 3 all looking excellent — that company just announced their new IP, Remember Me. The unveiling was done today at the Gamescom convention in Germany.Remember Me was in fact at last year’s Gamescom under the working title “Adrift” but only behind closed doors to members of the gaming press. We were supposed to see more of it at E3 this year but instead Capcom waited until now to show off a new trailer and gameplay.Remember Me is new, Paris-based developer Dontnod Entertainment’s first game and fittingly it’s set in Neo-Paris in the year 2084. You play as female protagonist, Nilin, an elite memory hunter who steals memories and changes them by breaking into peoples minds. The authorities soon fear her abilities though, and erase her own memories and throw her in jail. Nilin breaks out and is now on a journey to discover who erased her memories and find out just how much her powers can affect the world. There’s martial arts combat, exploration, and a brand new gameplay mechanic called “Memory Remix”, which allows you to change peoples memories in real time. Remember Me has a neo noir look and it being set in the future with a lot of rain, making it look a bit Blade Runner. Nilin is nimble, able to climb buildings and sneak up on others which is vital for a character who’s constantly on the run.Remember Me will be released May next year and come out on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Check out the gameplay below to see just how good this game looks.
