those young people who want more around one’s community and immerse them into one’s spirituality” The youth programmes which Bernhard organises at his monastery havevery fruitful with many young people coming to discern their vocation in life “the young people come because they realise it is about them and not the perseverance of a monastic community” Adoration is important to young people leaders including senior ministers cited the apex court’s move to quash the 122 second generation spectrum licences and its directive for auction as evidence of wrongdoing by the UPA in spectrum allocation Slamming the Congress for celebrating Thursday’s verdict as a clean chit to its policy for second generation spectrum allocation Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that investigation agencies would take an appropriate decision taking facts and history into account He cited the Supreme Court verdict to assert corruption in the UPA government’s 2G spectrum allocation policy and said the Congress was treating a trial court’s acquittal of the accused in the case as a badge of honour “Its history is of corruption Facts have proven it Congress leaders are treating the judgment like a badge of honour and certification that the 2G spectrum allocation policy was an honest policy” Jaitley told reporters in the Parliament House complex Jaitley cited details of the allocation policy of the UPA government and the Supreme Court verdict in February 2012 quashing all allocations Each allocation was quashed as arbitrary and unfair the minister said Jaitley said the criminal case was launched on the SC order He also rejected former telecom minister Kapil Sibal’s “zero loss” claim in the allocation saying it was disproved by the subsequent allocation by the BJP-led NDA government fetching Rs 11 lakh crore in 2015 and Rs 66000 crore in 2016 Jaitley pointed out that the UPA government had fixed a price of Rs 1734 crore per licencee Coming down heavily on the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government Jaitley said it had given licences in 2007-08 on the basis of a price linked to 2001 and there was a “huge element of arbitrariness” in implementation of the policy Cut-off dates were advanced and the first-come-first-serve policy was intended to serve a select few he said adding that it was later changed to “first come first pay” and a select few were informed in advance Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also said the judgment was not a “clean chit to the Congress” BJP spokesman Anil Baluni said “In 2012 the SC verdict clearly indicted the Manmohan Singh government for allowing open loot of national assets by not following procedures in allocating spectrum Similarly coal scam happened right under the nose of Manmohan Singh who was in charge of Coal Ministry People ARCHIPELAGO—On the high plateau of western Tibet Thomas Insel director of the National Institute of Mental Health weighs in this week on financial conflicts in psychiatry decrying a "culture of influence" from drug companies In a commentary in the Journal of the American Medical Association Insel points to allegations since 2007 by Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) that seven academic psychiatrists–some with NIMH research funding—failed to disclose income from industry Insel first wonders if Grassley is unfairly picking on psychiatrists Is the conflicts problem "worse for psychiatrists or are psychiatrists just an easy target" he asks Reviewing disclosures data and surveys he finds that it’s not clear whether "academicpsychiatrists receive more or disclose less" than other medical colleagues But it is clear that ties to companies are "prevalent" he finds For example 90% of psychiatrists writing treatment guidelines had undisclosed industry ties Moreover psychiatrists tend to favor brand-name drugs over cheaper generics and shun non-drug treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy Insel says That too is "not unique to psychiatry" but "in no way diminishes the severity of the problem" What should be done NIH is tightening its financial disclosure rules Insel notes But he also calls for the field to "take the lead" and "turn the tables of public trust by developinga culture of transparency for psychiatry’s collaborations withindustry" The health bill signed into law this week will aid Insel’s cause by requiring drug companies to report a new study claims that it is safe for most women to get pregnant even within the first two years after diagnosis Furthermorethe study revealed that patients who become pregnant appear to survive longer than those who don’talthough independent experts claimed that further research is needed in this areathe ‘Daily Mail’ reported In their studythe researchersled by Dr Hatem Azima medical oncologist at Jules Bordet Institute in Brusselsand colleaguesenrolled 333 womenwith an average age of 34but ranging from 21 to 48 years oldwhose oestrogen receptor status (positive or negative) and didn’t become pregnant and who acted as controls Over a period of almost five years following pregnancy30 per cent of all women in the study saw their disease come back Dr Azim said: “Out of all the women57 per cent had ER+ diseasebut the study showed there was no difference in the length of time women with either ER+ or ER negative (ER-) disease survived without their disease recurring compared with those who did not become pregnant” Neither breastfeeding nor abortion or miscarriage appeared to have an effect on the women’s outcome Dr Azim added: “Frequently when women with history of breast true and the outcome was similarirrespective of whether the pregnancy was completed or not” Howeveran expertProf David Cameron at the University of Edinburgh said: “It is important to acknowledge that moving world around me” says Riddell who recently exhibited at The Affordable Art Fair 2015 in London where she was the artist-in-residence At the autumn-winter 2014 edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) in Delhi held in March last year the artist documented the run-up to designer Aneeth Arora’s show It was her first trip to India and one that left a lasting impression “I have always been fascinated with textiles and a trip to India was on my mind I spent three months touring north India Apart from Delhi I went to Jaipur and Dharamsala and it was such an eye-opener” says Riddell over the phone from Darjeeling (she is on her second trip to India) before she heads home to London She would be just in time for her five-day solo show to be held at The Nehru Centre housed in The Indian High Commission from May 18 It would also coincide with the launch of her self-published book InStitchYou in India (12 / available on http://s.wwwharrietriddellcom) The exhibit
